On show nights, Kynren is entirely orchestrated by volunteers – known as Archers. These dedicated individuals are the heart and soul of Kynren, bringing its spectacular story to life.
Over 1,000 community members contribute countless hours of their precious spare time to this epic production. They undergo professional training in a diverse range of skills to ensure every performance is seamless and awe-inspiring.

Performers and Training
The cast is divided into 18 groups of performers, including two teenage groups, each trained rigorously in four core areas:
- Mass Movement: Mastering coordinated large-scale actions to create visually stunning scenes.
- Dance: Learning and perfecting intricate choreography for dynamic and engaging routines.
- Combat: Training in theatrical combat to depict dramatic battle sequences safely and convincingly.
- Acting: Rehearsing storytelling and performance to portray iconic characters across England’s past.

This training, combined with hours of rehearsals, ensures that each Archer delivers a polished performance every show night.
Commitment and Dedication
Each member of the cast typically changes costume five times during a single performance and plays characters across an average of three historical periods. With a performance area spanning 7.5 acres, the cast walks several kilometres each show, seamlessly transitioning between scenes and roles.
Their passion and dedication create the magic that makes Kynren an unforgettable experience for audiences.
